"...a club where earning a black belt means something..."

Welcome to EU Shukokai Karate Club

BRITISH UNIVERSITY CHAMPIONS 2012

EU Shukokai Karate Club is arguably one of the most successful and well-regarded martial arts programs in an International University. EU Shukokai Karate has dominated British Student Karate in the sporting arena, while setting itself as an international seminar venue and centre of excellence, that is visited each term by the modern masters of the martial arts.

Allan Amor Seminar, 21st/22nd April 2012

We're excited to annouce that EU Shukokai will be hosting Allan Amor, Ryukyu Kempo 7th Dan, for a two day seminar in April, 2012 on Classical Okinawan Martial Arts.  Open to students and non-students alike from all martial arts backgrounds, we anticipate visitors from around the UK, and beyond.  For more information on this rare event, and details about how to register, please visit www.katanomato.info.  Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis, and students are eligible for a discount.

First Time Students - White to Black Belts... and Beyond

The program at EU Shukokai has been tailored by the award-winning coaching staff to fit within the academic calendar at the University of Edinburgh; this ensures that each and every beginner to the club is taken through a modular training program that offers everyone the possibility of achieving the prestigous black belt, from a club where earning a black belt means something on all corners of the world.

Experience EU Shukokai for Yourself

A team of instructors teach each and every training session, mix the modern methods of sports coaching with the authentic and effective methods of martial arts instruction, to ensure that each individual student is taught to their strengths - we do not believe in a cookie-cutter approach to training martial artists.

Edinburgh University Freshers Sports Fair

Come talk to us at the Edinburgh University Sports Fair held in the Main Sports Hall in the CSE Pleasance Sports Centre on the 14th and 15th September 2011. You have the opportunity to talk to current students of the club and find out why you should choose EUSKC.

Martial Arts Demo

The 7th annual Martial Arts Demo will take place on Saturday 17th September 2011 at the end of Fresher's week. Launched by EU Shukokai in 2004 and located in the Trust Upper Hall of the CSE Pleasance Sports Centre, this is now an official event organised by the Sports Union. Each club will demonstrate a little of what their club is about, before giving you a chance to take part in introductory "mini-lessons". It's a great way to sample each of the clubs - at the end of the day, we want to help you find the club that's right for you, as much as we want you to join our club !

The starting time and running order for the demonstrations has yet to be confirmed, however you will want to arrive promptly or you may miss the demonstrations for some of the clubs!  Please pick up a flyer during Fresher's Week, or check back here closer to the time for more details.

Hear it from our own club members

Why not see what they have to say for themselves...?
